US Barge Freight Dashboard

Barge Freight Transport Indicators

The U.S. inland waterway system carries a large share of the nation's grain exports down to Gulf terminals, and barge freight is a major link in that supply chain. This dashboard tracks weekly downbound freight rates (spot plus one- and three-month forwards) alongside the grain tonnage and barge counts moving through the main river locks. Rates are published as a percentage of the 1976 benchmark tariff; use the unit toggles to convert any rate to dollars per ton, metric ton, or bushel.
